Miguel José Mansur is an Aruban politician and leader of the Accion21 party. He was born in 1977 on the island of Aruba. Mr. Mansur is an expert in finance and investment. Miguel has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations & Economics from Tufts University.
Miguel put forth his efforts writing and publishing an article titled “Status Aparte: The Road to Prosperity or Poverty?” on 18 July 2020. In this article, he addresses and assesses the poor performance and financial situation that Aruba has been in since 2001. This article prompted his interest in politics and therefore, he founded the liberal progressive party Accion21 on the 18 th of December 2020. It’s important to highlight the fact that Mr. Mansur is the first openly gay leader of a political party in Aruba, and the Accion21 party continuously strives for equality, inclusion, and diversity.
In March of 2021, the government was dissolved 3 months prematurely, resulting in early elections. Despite having less time than expected, Mr. Mansur made an impact and was able to reach the community with his innovative vision and mission for Aruba. He was elected a Senator of the Parliament of Aruba in the elections of 25 June 2021. Even more, he was the top vote-getter amongst new candidates and fifth overall of 174 candidates participating.
